Passo Tonale - Freeride

Bild
For the last four days I have been to Ponte di Legno in Lombardy, Italy. I went there with the DAV Friedrichshafen in order to go freeriding in and around Andamello at the Passo Tonale. Even though we decided not to go skiing today because it was snowing and the visibility was pretty bad, I would say we were lucky with the weather conditions overall. The forecast was rather bad.  In the end we had three out of four days with powder, some sun and great alpine adventures. I guess some pictures are the best way to give you an impression of what it was like.

Funkenfeuer - Schnetzenhausen

It took me more than four years in Friedrichshafen to go to the so called "Funkenfeuer". This bonfire tradition just seems to be restricted to the swabian part of lake constance. At least, I never experienced it on the west side of the lake. Brass music (including "Die Fischerin vom Bodensee"), Bratwurst, Most, snow and fire... that's probably as german as it can get.  A nice tradition.

Basement Training

After the Iron Man 70.3 last year in Zell am See / Kaprun, I was already feeling a little bit annoyed of endurance sports, especially endurance sports training. Nevertheless I decided to take advantage of the fitness level I had achieved over the last three years of training in the pool, in the saddle and in my running shoes. I decided to do my first marathon. " This one and that's it. Back to fun sports. ", that's what I thought. Somehow I achieved this goal. I trained less over the last months. The only sport I continued to train was the swimming. Apart from that I went skating, skiing, spent some time on my MTB (but only in sunny conditions) - that was it. However, at some point in Dezember I realized that skipping the training did not have the effect I was hoping for. I took the car instead of the bike to go to work. This saves me some time, but I feel bad for polluting the environment - because I know that it is not really necessary. I did not manage to invest

Cross-Country Skiing - Heiligenberg

Bild
Incredible amounts of snow arrived during the last days. Unfortunately I am facing a lot of work at the moment, which means that I do not have enough time to spent whole days on my touring skis or at carnival. Luckily it snowed also in the lower regions. That looks beautiful, gives me a winter feeling and furthermore provides me the possibility to go Cross-Country skiing without spending much time in my car. Unfortunately I had to find out that there is a trail for cross-country skiing on the mountain "Höchsten", but this one is just for classical back-country skiing. As I decided to learn skating, I had to move on to a small village named Heiligenberg. Still it is only about 20 km away from Friedrichshafen. The trail can be found here . I have to admit that the track looks a little bit stupid on a satellite picture, which was taken in summer... but you can probably imagine what it would like. In order to help you, some pictures I took today.
